I have an Opportunity to Travel to Japan, Will You Donate to My Fundraising Campaign?
We are no longer accepting donations on this campaign, but there are other ways for you to support us today!
Join me in supporting real change. Let’s support the good in the world and make a difference for the Cinnamongirls. Help us create a pipeline of girls of color trailblazing the world.
Hi I'm Kailynn Guidry,
You may know me personally or through my family or friends, but either way, I would like to start off by saying thank you for visiting my page! If you know me then you know that I'm all for exciting experiences and learning new things and this trip to Japan would be amazing! Cinnamongirl is a program that gives girls of all shapes and sizes, of all colors and skin tones the chance to create bonds with people of similar interests and helps us hone in and develop our craft. Cinnamongirl has multiple programs such as Write Your Story Cohort; Passport Book Club Cohort; STEAMgirl; and Entrepreneurgirl Cohort. I was lucky enough to be able to join the writing and travel cohort and be able to have an experience like this one after interviews, references, and a 250-word biography. Cinnamongirl provides us with mentorship and masterclasses from professionals in the field in order for us to learn all the different aspects and parts it takes to thrive in that job. For example in the Write Your Story cohort, we have had masterclasses form professionals about genre, how to write memoir vs. fiction, and general templates for story writing.
First, a little about myself, I am a 15 year old at Skyline High School. I enjoy acting, drawing, playing volleyball, sewing, and nearly anything creative and I will be using my talents to help me fundraise by selling my artwork near the holidays (more info to come). I love to listen to music, tune out the world, and jam out in my room! This will be my first trip without my parents, which is a little nerve-racking but also super thrilling and makes me get goosebumps thinking that I'm going to Japan!!
We are going on this trip to learn about the history, culture, and the impact of colonization or lack thereof. We will also learn about the impact that America has had on Japan and will be journaling and using different types of media to record these discoveries and our travels. This would be a great experience for me, not only educationally, but personally. As a little girl, I watched Karate Kid and was intrigued when I saw the Great Wall of China. This sparked my love and fascination of Asian culture, specifically the beautiful gardens, nature, cherry blossoms, sushi, and anime all native to Japan.
The goal is to raise $6,000 which will provide me with airfare, breakfast and dinner, lodging, and all the cool activities we’ll get to do so I would gladly appreciate any and all donations! Additionally, I completely understand that now may not be a good time to donate, please keep in mind that I will be fundraising until February so if you could stop by again before then, that would be amazing!
Thank you again and I'm happy to have your support!
With gratitude,
Kailynn!
