Hi my name is Leah. I am a 9th grader in high school. I aspire to become a doctor or work in the medical field. Helping others get better has always been a passion of mine. I love science, specifically biology. I also enjoy playing sports, they’ve always been fun and I enjoy staying active. Traveling is something I want to do more of, I’ve traveled domestically but I have not yet traveled out of the country which is why I’m so eager for this awesome opportunity.
I was chosen to be a part of an amazing program called Cinnamongirl, which provides new and exciting experiences for young girls of color such as myself. Opportunities such as these aren’t always available to us. In 2022, Travelgirl is going to Japan. I strive to fundraiser $6,000 in order to make this trip possible.
I’m thrilled and humbled to be a part of this trip and learn more about Japanese culture and their way of life, and see first hand the differences and similarities between the Japanese and American cultures. This is also a great opportunity to travel outside of the country with other like minded girls of color my age. As you know, girls of color do not have many opportunities like this to travel and see the world. Going to Japan will help me and my fellow Travelgirls apply the knowledge we gain from our trip to future experiences.
