Hello Beloved Family and Friends,
This is Mariah and I am currently a junior in high school and I have been selected as a member of the Cinnamongirl Inc. Travel Cohort for my second year. As many of you are aware, I remain passionate about traveling and history. Cinnamongirl has provided me with an opportunity to travel to Washington D.C. in April of 2023 to learn more about the United States which is extremely special as my eighth grade trip was previously cancelled due to the pandemic. The lyrics in Hamilton, my favorite musical of all time, can finally come to life as I explore powerful monuments of those historical figures who fought for freedom within our country.
This trip will allow me to grow as a person, specifically in allowing me to hone my communication skills when speaking to leaders of our country. We are planning to converse with many powerful figures in the American government who make differences daily. I am also excited to learn more about the daily operations of our government to become a better citizen. Additionally, I am looking forward to visiting museums, especially the National Museum of African American History and Culture, to learn more about my ancestors and their unique culture which developed out of oppression.
Cinnamongirl also extends this extraordinary invitation to my fellow sisters, middle and high school aged girls of color, who plan to experience this enrichment opportunity with me. I am confident this will be an experience we will remember for years to come and will inspire us to do great things in the future!
I am requesting your financial support to make this once-in-a-lifetime trip possible, my goal is to raise $4,500 to cover my expenses. I will be raising the money over the next few months in preparation for my trip. With the help of your donation, I am confident I can accomplish my goal!
