Hello Everyone!
My name is Riley Graden and I am a 15 year old sophomore at American Canyon High School. I am extremely passionate about history, traveling, helping youth, and being of service to my community. I am involved in multiple extracurricular activities including college preparatory programs, community service, and Cinnamongirl. Cinnamongirl has given me the opportunity to be a part of their Travelgirl cohort, which provides girls of color with opportunities to explore our world and build relationships. Next spring, we will travel to Washington D.C.
During our trip to D.C. from April 2nd - April 7th of 2023, I will learn how to grow my leadership skills by interacting with top leaders of our country. I will have a first person view on how our country is run in the heart of our government. I will also be given the opportunity to learn about our country's history in the different museums around D.C.
I want to go to D.C. because of my love of history and fascination with leadership. I am interested in why the top leaders in our country decided to go into politics, and I would also like to broaden my leadership skills. I want to visit museums such as the National Museum of African American History and Culture. I am excited to learn about the history of my ancestors. I think that it is important to learn about the history of our past and know that everything we have now was not easily attained.
