My name is Jolie Wilson, and this is my third year returning to Cinnamongirl’s travel girl cohort. Because of the wonderful adventures and unique cultural traditions I experienced in the past years, I’ve decided to come back again for my final year with Cinnamongirl. This year our mentors have organized a special trip that coincidentally aligns with my professional aspirations. This April a small group of us will travel to Washington D.C. and be given a chance to meet the honorable Supreme Court Justice Katanji Brown-Jackson and Vice President Kamala Harris. This is an opportunity that’s truly hard to pass.
Currently, I am a senior attending Corvian Community High School in Charlotte, North Carolina. In my free time I enjoy writing, painting, spending time with friends and family, listening to music and of course traveling… whenever possible! I am passionate about spreading positivity and empowerment to young girls just like me; girls who are caring, outgoing, ambitious, and compassionate. I also enjoy participating in extracurricular activities like volunteering with KeyClub, and participating in leadership rolls with various on and off campus clubs.
When I attend college next year, I plan to major in Political Science or Public Policy. Your financial support in helping me fundraise for this amazing trip will grant me a first hand account of what it is like to be an African American woman serving in politics, and also help me forge a path toward my future career.
Fundraising is not always comfortable or easy but your small donation will help me accomplish raising the money needed to participate in this educational experience .
