I can go anywhere, I can be anything, I can reach all of my dreams with the help of my community.

I am Abisola Kassiah Forrester. I am 13 years old and in the eighth grade. I live with my amazing family in Los Angeles, California. I am an honor roll student with 4.0 GPA. I am also a part of my school’s black student union. My favorite thing to do is to create! I love to create art, music, and joy for others. I am a professional actress and love being able to tell stories.

This is my second year being a part of Cinnamongirl, and I am loving it. Cinamongirl gives me a place to connect with other smart, talented, and driven girls of color, which is something that I can’t always do in my day-to-day life. I love that Cinnamongirl allows me to learn how to do things that I love on a high level. Last year I was a part of the Write Your Story Cohort and this year I am participating in the Travelgirl Cohort as well as, leading the Passport Book Club Cohort.

I am so excited to go to Japan! Last year in school, I learned about ancient Japan, and it really interested me. I am looking forward to learning more about the culture and traditions of this fascinating country. In addition, my favorite food has always been sushi, and I'd really love to try it in the very place it originated from. I know that I will really enjoy immersing myself in this new culture and place, and definitely can’t wait to try the cuisine!

I am using this fundraising process as an opportunity to help empower girls of color. I want our voices and accomplishments to be supported and highlighted on a platform that brings us together. I am creating BLK GRL Collective, a clothing line to inspire girls. I will use the funds I earn from this business to pay for my trip and with the remaining money help another Cinnamongirl fund her travels. My goal is to raise $6,500 dollars which will cover my expenses for this trip.
