Hello, my name is Assata Akom and I’m 13 years old in 7th grade. Some of my favorite things to do are playing basketball, traveling, reading, and spending time with my family. I recently joined Cinnamongirl. Cinnamon girl is an organization that is all about helping young Black and Brown girls of color, reach our full potential and thrive. Cinnamon helps girls like myself by connecting us to women Mentors who are making the world a better place. My family calls it Black Girl Magic and girl power. I am asking for your help to travel to Washington, DC to speak with some of the most amazing women leaders in the country who are changing the world through the power of government. I'm interested in learning from them directly about how they overcame challenges to become who they are. We are planning to meet people like Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortex and Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi and maybe even Supreme Court Justices. We will also visit the African American Museum of History and Culture. I am super excited about learning more about my own Black history and culture. Honestly, this is trip of a lifetime that could help me learn more about how politics, government, and racial and social justice work can make a difference for communities I love and care about.
My goal is to raise $4500 so I can have this life changing experience. Please help me reach my dream. Any amount will be appreciated.
